Privacy Policy
Short version
GrayCat Text is a local plain-text editor. It requires no account, includes no advertising, analytics, tracking, or third-party telemetry, and does not collect or sell personal information.
Files and folders
The app accesses only files and folders you select, drag into the app, open through macOS, or restore from recent items and sessions. Editing, search, comparison, conversion, and recovery are performed on your Mac.
GrayCat Text runs in the App Sandbox and uses macOS user-selected read/write access and security-scoped bookmarks. This lets the app open files only after you authorize them and revisit chosen items when needed. Printing uses the macOS system print capability.
Network access
The app does not upload document content or send it to an online service. The direct-download edition contacts only graycat.app and downloads.graycat.app to check for and download updates; update requests contain no document content. The app has no GrayCat account system and includes no network service for advertising, analytics, tracking, or telemetry.
Local storage
Preferences, security-scoped file bookmarks, recent items, session recovery data, saved macros, and folder-replacement backups are stored locally on your Mac. You can remove them by deleting the app's data and backups.
Apple privacy manifest
The app's privacy manifest declares no collected data and no tracking. It lists preferences and file timestamps as required-reason APIs, used to save app settings and detect whether a file changed outside the editor.
