System requirements
GraycatTunes is made for macOS 14.0 or later on Apple silicon + Intel Macs and supports English and Simplified Chinese. The direct download is signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.
Getting started
- Import music: drag audio files or folders into the window, or use ⌘O for files and ⌘I for a folder. Supported formats include FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF, MP3, AAC/M4A, and CAF.
- Play an album: open an album and choose Play Album. The current queue keeps playing while you browse elsewhere in the library.
- Equalizer: use the sliders button at the right of the player bar to open the ten-band EQ, preamp, and presets.
- Output device: choose a specific device in the player bar or let the app follow the macOS system default.
- Player views: ⌃⌘M toggles the mini player, ⌃⌘F opens the full-screen vinyl view, and ⌘? lists every shortcut.
Common questions
Why is a track greyed out?
The file may be in iCloud but not downloaded, or its external drive may be disconnected. Click an iCloud track to ask macOS to download it, or use the maintenance tool in the toolbar to review unavailable files and duplicates.
Why might a folder need permission again after reinstalling?
The library index is stored locally, but macOS sandbox permission sometimes needs to be granted again. Re-add the original music folder if tracks appear unavailable.
How do I update the direct-download edition?
GraycatTunes currently contains no automatic updater. Return to the product page, download the latest version, and replace the older copy in Applications. Your music files remain in their original locations.
When reporting a problem, include
- Your Mac model, processor, and macOS version
- The GraycatTunes version and build number
- The audio format, output device, and steps that reproduce the problem
- A screenshot or minimal test file without private music information, when relevant
